Specialty & Customized Contact Lenses
Contact Lenses are not one size fits all.
Patient’s eyes vary in shape, size, and visual conditions. This is why some patients are more challenging to fit with contacts than others. We now have a vast selection of regular and specialty contacts to accommodate almost everyone. At First Look Opticians, we are very experienced at fitting the more complex contact lenses.

Contact Lens Materials
Contacts are made of many kinds of materials. The two most common types of contacts are hard and soft.
Hard Contact Lenses
The most common hard lens is known as a rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens. These lenses are made from plastic combined with breathable materials. They hold their shape firmly, yet allow oxygen to flow through the lens to your eyes.
Soft Contact Lenses
Most people choose to wear soft contact lenses due to initial comfort and ease of wear.
Types of Contacts
Daily Wear Contacts
These lenses are intended to be worn for one day only. This makes them the healthiest, softest, easiest contact on the market.
Planned Replacement Lenses
These lenses are replaced every two weeks or every month. Planned replacement lenses are intended to be worn for 12-14 hours per day. They can then be cleaned and worn again the following day.
Contact Lens Designs
Spherical Contacts
These are offered as soft or RGP. These lenses correct for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
Toric Lenses
Toric lenses are available as soft or RGP. These lenses have multiple lens powers to correct for astigmatism.
Bifocal or Multifocal
Bifocal or multifocal lenses are available as soft or RGP. These lenses correct for distance, intermediate and near sight. These are also available in Toric lens designs.
CRT or Orthokeratology
These RGP lenses are specially designed to reshape the cornea during sleep and provide lens-free daytime wear. This is often called myopic control.
Prosthetic Lenses
Colored contacts can be used for disfigured eyes to match the normal eye.
Custom Lenses
If conventional lenses are unsuccessful, you might be a candidate for custom/made to order lenses for your individual eye shape and visual needs.
Hybrid Lenses
These lenses feature a RGP center with a soft skirt. It provides wearers with crisp sight and added comfort of a soft contact.
Scleral Lenses
These larger diameter RGP lenses are specially designed to treat conditions like keratoconus, post-Lasik, dry eyes, astigmatism, post corneal transplant, and pellucid marginal degeneration.
